In a significant move to bolster its economic landscape, South Dakota’s Board of Economic Development has approved a robust $1.4 million in state assistance for key projects in Sturgis, Yankton, the Sioux Falls area, and Clear Lake. These initiatives, spanning various crucial sectors, mark an important chapter for the state’s growth trajectory.
On the forefront of this development in Sturgis, a $597,275 SD Works loan has been sanctioned for IR LLC to facilitate the construction of a new site for Rev It Up Espresso. What started as an 8-by-12-foot trailer has burgeoned into three kiosks throughout Sturgis, and now, the locally beloved coffee establishment is set to embrace a new chapter with a permanent storefront. Plans include a sit-down cafe, drive-through service, on-site coffee roasting, and an expanded range of food and merchandise.
Meanwhile, Yankton is set to see an enhanced healthcare landscape. JBHM LLC has received approval for a $320,000 SD Works loan to aid in constructing a new facility for Elwood Family Dental Care. The expansion not only facilitates the addition of a second dentist but also allows the practice to operate five days a week, with full-time equivalent positions expected to double from eight to 16.
The Sioux Falls region is receiving a $10,000 Economic Development Partnership Program grant awarded to the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance. This will propel their Leadership Sioux Metro Regional Economic Development Training Initiative, providing essential training in business retention and attraction, site readiness, housing and development, workforce development finance, and regional collaboration, thus fortifying the area’s economic framework.
In Clear Lake, a $500,000 Local Infrastructure Improvement Program grant is directed towards the construction of a crucial water tank and pump station. This infrastructure venture is aimed at enhancing the local water system to accommodate and support the expansion of Tech Ord, a producer of detonating and explosive components for the military. The project also emphasizes the need for improved fire protection, crucial for the community’s ongoing safety and growth.
