At Morris, Inc., you’ll engage in crucial activities like installing, maintaining, and repairing center pivot irrigation systems — the veins of farmland irrigation. Your hands-on role will involve working with VFD drives, control systems, transformers, and three-phase motors, among others.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, Diagnose & Repair
    • Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair center pivot irrigation systems.
    • Troubleshoot issues involving mechanical, structural, and electrical components.
    • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control panels, wiring, and lighting systems in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
    • Perform general electrical maintenance on both facility and field equipment.
  • Stay Organized, Stay Efficient
    • Track time and materials used in each project to complete repair reports efficiently.
    • Maintain vehicles, tools, inventory, and ensure all equipment is operational.
    • Perform essential daily equipment maintenance like greasing and checking fluid levels.
  • Support the Team in the Field
    • Operate forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, and other equipment as needed.
    • Participate in customer clinics and training sessions, providing excellent service.
  • Serve Customers and Work Safely
    • Follow all company safety rules, state, and federal standards at all times.
    • Engage in continuing education and training to hone skills and knowledge.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, although an Associate’s degree in electrical work is preferred.
  • A valid South Dakota driver’s license; a CDL is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • An SD Electrical License at the apprentice level is required, with room for advancement to a journeyman for higher earning potential.
  • Experience with VFD and control systems.
  • Physical endurance, as the job requires lifting at least 75 pounds repeatedly and sustained outdoor work.

Where You’ll Work

Based out of Morris, Inc.’s main shop in South Dakota, your role is to travel to farms across the region, ensuring that farming equipment functions seamlessly. Expect a collaborative atmosphere with the tools and support you need to succeed.
