Dakota State Dominates Men’s Track Honors Amidst Broad Sports Excellence

BISMARCK, N.D. – December 10, 2024 – In a significant acknowledgement of athletic prowess, Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison, South Dakota, shone brightly at the announcement of the North Star Athletic Association’s (NSAA) first edition of the 2024-25 Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. DSU swept the men’s weekly honors, showcasing impressive performances from their standout athletes.

Chantz Minear and Nolan Slominski Lead the Charge

Chantz Minear, a senior from Des Moines, Iowa, was named Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Minear achieved an outstanding heptathlon score of 5,009 points, marking it as the third-best in DSU’s history. His all-around athletic ability was on display at the NCAA Division I South Dakota State Holiday Invitational & Multi-Events.

Nolan Slominski: A Force on the Track

Joining Minear in the limelight, Nolan Slominski, a sophomore from Blair, Nebraska, was selected as Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Known for his determination both on the track and in academics, majoring in Cyber Operations, Slominski posted the second-fastest time in the NAIA 800-meter run at 1:53.20. Additionally, he anchored a successful 4×400 meter relay.

Slominski has continued to raise the bar, breaking DSU records and earning All-American honors. His achievements include running the fifth fastest 600-meter time in DSU history and contributing to a record-breaking 4×800 relay team at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
