VERMILLION, S.D. — In a pioneering move to bolster its athletic programs and better engage with the community, the University of South Dakota (USD) athletic department is thrilled to announce the launch of The Yote Fund, its first-ever holistic giving model. This innovative initiative is set to galvanize support from Coyote fans and redefine the landscape of donor contributions.
The Yote Fund introduces a streamlined approach to donor interaction by consolidating various modes of giving into an umbrella structure, thereby enhancing transparency and ensuring every donation is acknowledged and appreciated. By integrating existing funds, such as the Howling Pack Scholarship Fund, Excellence Funds, and Endowment giving, the Yote Fund simplifies the process and elevates the member experience for South Dakota’s vibrant Coyote community.
“This is a transformational time in college athletics and donor support and engagement mean more than it ever has,” emphasized Ben LeCompte, the Senior Associate AD for Development and CRO. “My team and I are extremely excited to launch the Yote Fund and help USD Athletics reach new philanthropic milestones. The holistic model will ensure we recognize every generous dollar that supports our student-athletes.”
Supporters will be delighted to know that the initiative does not eliminate cherished traditions like the Howling Pack Scholarship Fund. Instead, it integrates them, enriching the donor experience. As part of the new program, Coyote supporters will be categorized into Yote Fund Membership Levels, which lock in annually from July 1 to June 30, encompassing contributions from the previous fiscal year. This innovative approach ensures sustained and growing benefits for supporters, firmly rooting them in the heart of USD Athletics.
The University of South Dakota, a proud emblem of the state, thrives on the dedication and passion of Vermillion’s residents and beyond, who understand the transformative power of athletic and academic success. Recognizing this, USD Athletics has unveiled the Yote Leadership Society, an elite club crafted to honor the unwavering loyalty of its top benefactors. Achieving this prestigious status requires cumulative contributions of $10,000 or more, and members are feted with Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Diamond distinctions. Reserved for the society’s most generous, exclusive benefits amplify the donor experience and cement their legacy in USD history.
The initial rollout of Yote Fund Membership Levels is scheduled for July 1, 2025, an eagerly anticipated date that promises to enhance the support network for USD athletes. As supporters elevate their Yote Fund level, the benefits they receive simultaneously grow, reinforcing the reciprocal relationship between USD and its devoted fans.
