Hanna Miller, a 6-foot-2 forward hailing from Aberdeen, S.D., is transferring from Arizona State University. Her journey into major league basketball began at Aberdeen Christian High School, and her remarkable performance there set the foundation for her future endeavors. At Arizona State, Miller not only pursued her athletic career but also excelled academically in sports business. Her sports journey prior to ASU included a notable season at Dodge City Community College, which was marked by historic achievements, including earning an auto-bid to the national tournament and setting multiple school records.

“Hanna brings great energy and a great attitude to our team,” said Coach Hutter. “Her length and athleticism make us versatile at both ends of the floor.”

Joining her is Ava Miller, another forward known for her dual-sport prowess in South Carolina. After completing a successful year at the University of South Carolina Upstate, Ava is set to bolster the UND team. Standing tall at six feet two inches, Ava adds immediate depth to the team’s post position, with the ability to shoot from the three-point line—an asset Coach Hutter finds highly beneficial.

“Ava brings a great work ethic and attitude to our team that will be impactful both on and off the floor,” Hutter emphasized.

London Harris, a guard from the storied Hopkins High School program in Minneapolis, is bringing her defensive acumen to North Dakota. Renowned for her state championship appearances and numerous honors such as being a McDonald’s All-American Nominee, London is set to fortify UND’s defense with her tenacious play.

“London will bring great effort, especially at the defensive end of the floor,” remarked Coach Hutter. “Her intensity and toughness are unmatched.”

Further strengthening UND’s lineup is Finley Ohnstad from Kansas State University. Known for her scoring ability, Ohnstad’s high school career saw her shattering records at Lakeville South with 1,587 career points. Her capability to score at multiple levels makes her a versatile addition to the Fighting Hawks.

Transfer Addison Klosterbuer from South Dakota, notable for her high school record-setting performances and commitment to excellence, is yet another addition. Her accolades as a two-time Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Class 2A Player of the Year highlight her significant potential for UND.

Rounding out these transfers is Mackenzie Hughes from Mayville State University, who emerged as a pivotal player in her previous team, accumulating over 1,647 points during her college career. A distinguished NAIA Third-Team All-American, Hughes is praised for her competitive edge and is expected to influence both the playing field and the team dynamics positively.

“Mackenzie brings a competitive edge and level of toughness to our team,” added Hutter. “Her quickness and scoring ability will be an immediate asset.”

Each of these athletes shares a unique connection to the Midwest—a region known for nurturing strong athletic talent—and they are expected to bring growth, innovation, and competitive spirit to the UND basketball program. By integrating players with various backgrounds and skills, the Fighting Hawks are poised for an exciting season.

The University of North Dakota continues to advance its athletic programs through strategic recruitment and community connection, proudly representing the spirit and talent found in South Dakota and beyond. As the new roster takes shape, the future of UND women’s basketball indeed looks vibrant and promising.
