VERMILLION, S.D. – In a significant boost for South Dakota’s women’s basketball team, head coach Carrie Eighmey proudly announced the signing of talented graduate transfer Patience Williams from Georgia State. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Patience Williams has made a name for herself with a formidable track record stretching from her high school days to her time at Georgia State. Williams comes to South Dakota after an accomplished career in collegiate basketball. Her journey began at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School, where she averaged 20 points and 18 rebounds in a stellar senior year, amassing over 1,150 points in her high school career. She then shone brightly in her single year at Florida Southwestern State College, averaging 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, earning Third Team NJCAA All-American honors.

During her time at Georgia State, Williams appeared in 59 games, starting in 10, and compiled 243 points and 236 rebounds. In the 2024-25 season alone, she averaged 4.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game over 19.3 minutes. Her ability to perform as a rim-running, rebounding athlete who can defend multiple positions is set to bring further strength and versatility to the Coyotes.

“Patience plays with a high motor and will be able to help us convert effort plays into points,” Eighmey said. “She adds more depth and versatility to our contingent of forwards. We are looking forward to her becoming a Yote!”
