Since 2019, Hull has served under State Treasurer Josh Haeder, overseeing daily operations and rolling out significant modernization initiatives. Known for her leadership in modernizing the Treasury through the adoption of AI-powered tools, she improved both efficiency and accuracy, allowing staff to save hours daily. “From day one, we’ve transformed how this office operates,” Hull said. “The results speak for themselves, and I’m proud of what our team has built.”

South Dakota, with its strong sense of community and commitment to progress, is at the heart of Hull’s campaign. Her emphasis on technology and financial safeguards aligns with broader state interests, including economic development and transparency. Hull implemented “Positive Pay,” a fraud-prevention system through South Dakota’s banking partner, further securing taxpayer dollars. This initiative monitors unauthorized transactions, safeguarding the state’s financial integrity.

Hull is also the lead on Project BISON, a transformative $70 million technology initiative aimed at modernizing the state’s operations.

“When I accepted this role, we had to rebuild the team while simultaneously modernizing how the office functioned,” Hull noted. Her leadership has ensured that modernization does not come at the expense of efficiency and effectiveness, appealing to South Dakota’s values of responsibility and diligence.

Hull, a native of Philip, South Dakota, holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Black Hills State University, reinforcing her local roots and commitment to the state’s advancement. She resides in Pierre with her husband Chris and daughter Charlie. Outside of her professional life, Hull enjoys exploring South Dakota’s rich landscapes through outdoor activities such as boating and attending live music events.

As Treasurer Josh Haeder, who is ineligible to seek another term, passes the baton, Hull sees the candidacy as an opportunity to carry forward the progress made thus far. “We’ve built something worth continuing,” Hull expressed. “I know what South Dakotans deserve and expect; South Dakotans deserve someone ready to deliver results from day one.”

Melissa Hull’s campaign centers on modernization, transparency, and dedication to South Dakota’s fiscal health. Her experience and dedication to state service mark her as a prominent candidate, promising to uphold accountability and ensure every taxpayer dollar is managed with utmost precision. Her journey stands as a testament to South Dakota’s potential when innovation meets commitment.
